11th National Handloom Day | Fashion Design Dept | School of Design

The Fashion Design Department of the School of Design at Avantika University celebrated the 11th National Handloom Day, honoring the rich tradition of Indian handloom and the exquisite Indian craftsmanship. The celebration commenced with an introduction to the diverse handloom traditions of various Indian states, echoing the vision of the Honorable Prime Minister of India, who emphasizes “Jan Seva is Desh Seva”. Attendees also took a pledge to support and promote handloom products made by Indian artisans. The celebration continued with a mesmerizing Ramp Walk competition where students showcased garments inspired by India’s traditional art and cultural heritage. Students graced the stage in beautiful traditional handlooms like Kanjeevaram, Chanderi, Paithani, Patola, Sambalpuri, and Pochampally sarees. Each look featured distinctive draping styles and was part of a unique collection, thoughtfully designed and styled by the students themselves. Thus, paying a heartfelt tribute to India’s timeless traditions. The showcase was a living proof of how students at Avantika University are nurtured to honor and preserve the essence of Indian culture, while infusing it with a contemporary edge through their exceptional design skills.

iConnect | Mr. Mriganka Bhuyan | School of Design

The School of Design at Avantika University recently hosted an iConnect Session featuring Mr. Mriganka Bhuyan, the co-founder of Studio Iksa and a renowned storyboard and animatic artist. During the session, Mr. Bhuyan interacted with students and shared exciting insights drawn from his extensive experience working with industry giants like Netflix, HBO Max, Baahubali, Cartoon Network, and other prominent companies. Students got a first-hand look at the everyday design processes of a professional setup, from the initial brainstorming phase to the final exhibition. The session provided them with much-needed practical exposure to the creative workflows behind some of the most iconic visual narratives in the industry.

Yoga and Anti-Addiction Awareness | Awareness Session | Avantika University

Avantika University organized a session on “Yoga and Anti-Addiction Awareness” led by Guruji Dr. H.R. Nagendra, Vice Chancellor of Vyasa Yoga University, in association with Ankit Gram Sewa Dham Ashram. Widely recognized as the 'Yoga Scientist of India' and the esteemed Yoga Guru to the Honorable Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, Dr. Nagendra brought a wealth of knowledge and wisdom to the session. The session aimed to raise awareness about the harmful effects of addiction while promoting the power of yoga as a path to holistic well-being. It encouraged individuals to embrace a lifestyle rooted in mindfulness, balance, and inner strength.

Aarambh, the 5-Day Orientation Program at Avantika University welcomes new students across disciplines

Avantika University successfully concluded its five-day Orientation Program, welcoming the incoming batch of students from Engineering, Management, Law, Psychology, and Agriculture. The program, held from July 29 to August 2, was designed to ease the transition of students from school life to higher education, while preparing them for a transformative academic journey ahead. The event kicked off with a Parents' Interaction Session on Day 1, followed by a formal Inaugural Ceremony. The ceremony was graced by distinguished guests, Ms. Deepti Mehta, CHRO, Interface Microsystems, and Mr. Dhiraj Sharma, DGM and State Training Head, Reliance Jio. Addressing the new students, both speakers encouraged them to follow their passions, continuously upskill themselves, and stay focused on their goals. Day 2 offered students an introduction to campus life, highlighting various learning and engagement platforms such as NSS, student clubs, and other academic resources. The day ended on a high note with a musical evening by the band Aagaz, which brought energy to the campus, as students danced to their rocking yet soulful beats. Day 3 focused on relaxation and bonding, with gaming activities and a movie screening to help students unwind after two days of immersive sessions. The highlight of Day 4 was an interactive and motivational session by Mr. Amber Arondekar, Founder of The Impact Learning. His engaging activities and reflective exercises helped students explore their inner strengths, leaving them with lifelong insights and a deep sense of inspiration. The final day, Day 5, offered a glimpse into the academic life awaiting them. Students met their faculty members, participated in a brief orientation on the curriculum, and got an overview of the expectations from their chosen disciplines. The program ended on a celebratory note with an exciting Party and DJ Night, where students came together to create joyful memories as they stepped into their new chapter. The Orientation Week at Avantika University offered students more than just a formal introduction; it was a holistic experience to nurture confidence and curiosity in the minds of the future-ready learners.

Avantika University commences 'Aarambh' the Student Orientation Program

Avantika University inaugurated Aarambh, its annual Student Orientation Program, on August 29, for students from the disciplines of Engineering, Management, Law, Agriculture, and Psychology. The event witnessed a huge turnout of enthusiastic students, who are about to begin their higher education journey with Avantika. A five-day initiative, Aarambh aims to ease the transition of students from school to the university environment, helping them acclimate to academic life, explore passions, and begin shaping the skills essential for their future careers. The program started off with a faculty interaction session for parents, followed by an inaugural ceremony. The Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Dr. Nitin Rane, extended a warm welcome to the students and their families. The event was graced by Chief Guest Ms. Deepti Mehta, CHRO of Interface Microsystems, and Mr. Dhiraj Sharma, DGM and State Training Head at Reliance Jio, both of whom addressed the gathering and shared inspiring insights with the students. Encouraging the students, Ms. Mehta emphasized the importance of identifying and leveraging one’s strengths, advising students to pursue their passions with purpose and perseverance. “In just a few years, you’ll be stepping into the professional world. Know your strengths, nurture them, and that’s how growth happens, everywhere,” she said. Mr. Sharma shared a similar sentiment, saying, “The way you choose to begin your journey reflects how it will unfold. Make the most of every opportunity and every stage of your life.” The inaugural session concluded with a vote of thanks by the Registrar of Avantika University, Dr. Manesh Patil, who reiterated Avantika University’s tradition of supporting its students at every step of their academic and personal growth. Day 3 of Aarambh: Creativity, Community & Celebration!

The final day of Aarambh kicked off with a comprehensive introduction to the vibrant campus ecosystem at Avantika University. Students were familiarized with key departments and support systems, including the External Relations Office, Student Office, Career Services, Exam Cell, ICT, NSS Wing, Clubs, and more, setting the stage for a well-rounded student experience. The energy soared with an electrifying D'Talks session by Gaurav Juyal, Co-Founder of Prolog Collective and beloved host of Art Attack on Disney Channel. With unmatched charm and passion, Gaurav took students through his creative journey, from discovering design software to falling in love with animation. He spoke about founding “Thoughts and Bolts”, a maker space in Bangalore, and shared his mission of teaching children through hands-on creative experiences. According to him, creativity truly flourishes when you practice different craft forms, be it woodwork, paper experimentation, food art, street art, commercial design, graffiti, or pottery. His infectious enthusiasm left students buzzing with excitement and a renewed sense of creative purpose. Post the session, students participated in hands-on workshops. As the sun set, Aarambh came to a powerful close with a musical DJ night, a perfect blend of celebration and togetherness. With pizzas in hand and smiles all around, students danced their hearts out, already feeling at home. Now equipped with inspiration, clarity, and confidence, students are all set to begin their academic journey focused, fired up, and ready to turn their dreams into reality.

Highlights from Day 2 of Aarambh

Day 2 of Aarambh was all about creativity and pure inspiration. The day began with an interactive ice-breaking session where students got the opportunity to connect with the faculty team across departments, Foundation, Fashion, User Experience Design, and Industrial Design. They learned about the faculty’s diverse academic journeys, specializations, and rich industry experience, setting the stage for an exciting academic journey ahead. The energy soared as the much-awaited D'Talk session with Aaquib Wani, Founder and Director of Aaquib Wani Design, took center stage. With unstoppable energy and an unfiltered passion for creativity, Aaquib captivated the audience from the moment he stepped in. He shared his raw and real journey from being someone who once faced failure to becoming one of the most sought-after names in the design industry. Starting from his father’s carpet store, where his fascination with design first took root, Aaquib built the dream studio he always envisioned. His journey took him to global stages working with iconic brands like Levi’s, Adidas, Apple Beats, and designing for major platforms like Lollapalooza, Sunburn, Royal Challengers Bangalore, T20 World Cup, and even the Olympic Games. He reminded students that no dream is too far if you dare to chase it. The session ended on a high note, with laughter, interaction, and a powerful sense of motivation. Later in the evening, students dove into hands-on creative workshops, exploring Mask Making, Mandala Art, and Typography. Guided by expert faculty, they brought their imaginations to life, expressing themselves through colors, shapes, and stories. Day 2 concluded with an inspiring session by Vaibhav Kumaresh, Founder and Director of Vaibhav Studios. A pioneer in India’s animation industry, where he shared his rich experience and insights into the world of animation. As a flagbearer of iconic animation productions in the country, his journey lit a spark of confidence in every budding designer, reminding them that their creative journey has only just begun, and the possibilities ahead are truly limitless.

Aarambh 2025: Avantika University Welcomes Budding Designers with an Inspiring Start

The vibrant green campus of Avantika University came alive with creative energy as Aarambh 2025, the much-awaited three-day orientation program for the incoming batch of design aspirants, kicked off on July 2. The event marked a significant transition for recent school graduates as they stepped into a new chapter of their academic journey, ready to embrace design thinking and innovation. The inaugural day commenced with a warm welcome and a comprehensive walkthrough of the university's milestones, international partnerships, and impactful social initiatives, presented by the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Dr. Nitin Rane. His address set the tone for a future-focused academic experience rooted in global exposure and societal responsibility. The highlight of the day was an engaging and inspiring session by the Guest of Honour, Mr. Prateek Sethi, Founder and Creative Director of Trip Creative Services. Known for his brilliant work, Mr. Sethi captivated the audience with stories from his creative journey, including the making of the iconic character from Pogo TV’s FAQ. He walked students through his classic projects, from animated folk tales representing regional art forms to cutting-edge AR/VR videos, interactive 360° banners, games, and apps, offering insights and practical tips for aspiring designers. The evening concluded on a high note with a dose of laughter, thanks to a live performance by popular stand-up comedian Kushagra Srivastava, leaving students and faculty in splits. Speaking on the occasion, the Dean of the School of Design addressed the students, highlighting the crucial role of faculty in shaping their future. “It is now our responsibility to refine your skills and prepare you for the realities of the professional world. True learning often happens beyond the classroom,” he remarked. Registrar Dr. Manesh Patil urged students to push their creative boundaries. “Step out of your comfort zones. Harness your imagination and let your creativity shine. This is your time to explore, express, and evolve,” he encouraged. Legal Aid Camp | Anti-Drug Addiction and Awareness | School of Law and Public Policy

The School of Law and Public Policy at Avantika University organized a Legal Aid Camp on the theme "Anti-Drug Addiction and Awareness." The camp was a collaborative effort of the Pro Bono Club and the Legal Aid Clinic, School of Law and Public Policy, Avantika University, in association with the Department of Justice, Ministry of Law and Justice, Government of India, and the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Ujjain . The program commenced with opening remarks by Prof (Dr) Priya Sepaha, Dean, School of Law and Public Policy. In her address, she emphasized the legal consequences of drug addiction and trafficking, shedding light on relevant laws such as the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985. She sensitized the audience about the severe socio-legal impact of drug abuse and the importance of youth involvement in the fight against drug addiction. Law students from 1st year Vaidika Pandey, Atharv Bhatkhande and Dhurvankur Manjerekar also spread awareness through their discussion of several steps and policies adopted by the government and the severity of the issue. They also interacted with gatherings and shared some incidents. As a key highlight of the camp, students performed a powerful and thought-provoking Nukkad Natak. The camp served as a vital platform to engage the academic community in social outreach and legal empowerment, aligning with the objectives of the Legal Aid Clinic and Pro Bono Club—to create awareness and provide access to justice at the grassroots level.

The School of law and Public Policy at Avantika University conducted a workshop on the Practical Application of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, with Senior Advocate Sudhir Dandwate from the Madhya Pradesh High Court as the resource person. The session provided in-depth knowledge on key provisions, latest amendments, Accident Information Report (DAR), compulsory third-party insurance, insurer’s liability, hit-and-run cases, and the Golden Hour Concept. Students and faculty from the School of Law and Public Policy at Avantika University recently visited Rashtrapati Bhavan, the official residence of the President of India. During the tour, they explored the majestic Forecourt and several iconic rooms within the main building, including the Banquet Hall, Ashok Hall, Durbar Hall, Library, North Drawing Room, Long Drawing Room, and the serene Navachara Arogya Vanam. The group also toured the Rashtrapati Bhavan Museum, which houses a remarkable collection of artefacts reflecting India’s rich history, art, culture, and heritage. The museum also offers a comprehensive glimpse into the lives and legacies of India’s presidents through their preserved possessions, gifts, and memorable moments. Such visits play a crucial role in the academic and professional development of law students. They offer a first-hand understanding of India’s constitutional framework, the functioning of democratic institutions, and the significance of preserving national heritage. Exposure to such historic and administrative spaces deepens students’ appreciation for public service and governance, bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world context.

Fashion Styling & Photography Workshop | Dr. Diana Linda | School of Design

The Fashion Design Department at the School of Design at Avantika University conducted a 5-day workshop on Fashion Styling and Photography, with the renowned Italian Fashion Designer, Dr. Diana Linda, who brought a wealth of global expertise to the table. During the workshop, students explored the art of fashion styling & photography through hands-on assignments, learning industry-level skills in creative direction, composition, and storytelling. Some of the key learnings of the session consisted of a historical Costume Photoshoot, a Magazine Editorial Shoot, a Classic Denim Shoot, and Social Awareness Shoot. The workshop successfully delivered hands-on experience in professional styling and visual storytelling. Students developed knowledge of fashion photography, as the event gave a creative direction to their overall learning process. Students had a fun time understanding trends, accessorizing & composition techniques.

The Fashion Design Department of the School of Design at Avantika University organized a 3D Fashion Illustration Workshop using Clo3D Software. The workshop featured Dr. Sukhvir Singh, a renowned textile designer from Delhi as the key instructor. The highlight of the workshop was hands-on training in digital garment visualization & virtual prototyping for the students, wherein they also learned about advanced pattern simulation, draping & 3D rendering. Among the most exciting of all the lessons was gaining a deeper expertise in animation & virtual runway presentations. Apart from honing the new edge skills, Dr. Sukhvir Singh introduced students to the plethora of career opportunities that the industry has to offer.

Ek Pahal - Vidhik Paramarsh Manch | Adv. Dr. Pooja Bhogle | School of Law and Public Policy

The School of Law and Public Policy at Avantika University in association with the Pro-Bono Club, Department of Justice, Ministry of Law and Justice, Government of India successfully hosted their flagship event Ek Pahal - Vidhik Paramarsh Manch. This initiative was organized under the leadership of Hon'ble Vice Chancellor Dr. Nitin Rane. The event was chaired by Adv. Dr. Pooja Bhogle, Advocate High Court of Madhya Pradesh, Prof. (Dr.) Priya Sepaha, Dean, School of Law and Public Policy, and Assistant Professor, Mr. Aruno Raj Singh. The event aimed to provide free legal consultancy to students, staff, GIS Team, workers, and faculty members of the University, addressing personal legal issues and offering valuable guidance. A total of 25 individuals from these categories availed themselves of the legal consultation services, benefiting from expert advice. Avantika University welcomed Mr. Satish Mehta, Project Coordinator of Go Goa IIT Alumni Council, who during the session shared insights and experiences from the Go Goa project, along with other innovative projects undertaken by the IIT Alumni Council, inspiring the audience. Following this, Dr. Jyoti Joglekar from K.J. Somaiya College of Engineering, Mumbai, presented her perspective on leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI) for efficient crowd management and seamless transportation of pilgrims. She highlighted a clear vision for potential improvements that can be made to ensure a smooth execution of the Simhastha 2028-Maha Kumbh mega event. Anita Songara | Pattern Making and Draping Workshop | School of Design

The Fashion Design Department of the School of Design at Avantika University successfully conducted an eight-day intensive Pattern Making and Draping Workshop, focusing on Indian menswear design. Led by Ms. Anita Songara, a Freelance designer and educationist from Indore, the workshop provided students with hands-on experience in pattern development and draping techniques for traditional and contemporary Indian menswear. The workshop focussed on understanding garment construction for Indian menswear, including developing pattern-making skills for Kurta, Churidar, Nehru Jacket, and Panel Kurta, gaining expertise in menswear draping techniques, and applying pattern placement and fitting adjustments effectively. The workshop successfully equipped students with industry-relevant skills in menswear pattern-making and draping. Ms. Anita Songara’s expertise provided invaluable insights into traditional Indian garment construction, refining students’ technical proficiency. This hands-on experience marks a significant step in their journey toward mastering menswear design and industry preparedness.

CAD Workshop | Anurag Gupta | School of Design

The Fashion Design Department of the School of Design at Avantika University conducted a Computer-Aided Design (CAD) Development Workshop. The workshop was led by renowned renowned Lakmé Fashion Week Designer Mr. Anurag Gupta, who provided students the essential hands-on training in industry-standard design software. Students got a deeper perspective of the usability and functionality of Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Illustrator. One of the key highlights of the workshop was its in-depth focus on Pattern Making and Pattern Placement. Students mastered enhanced skills in Digital Design for Fashion Prototypes and gained exposure to global design and manufacturing applications. By mastering these techniques, students developed the ability to create precise and efficient digital prototypes, further strengthening their technical foundation. The four-day intensive training ensured that students gained technical proficiency, bridging the gap between traditional techniques and digital innovations. This overall learning experience empowered them with industry-relevant skills, equipping them with the skills necessary to thrive in both local and international fashion markets.
