Binary System

Machine Language

Machine language refers to a language that is understood and interpreted by the computer system. When a user sends data to the computer, it is first converted to machine language and then it is interpreted by the computer. Similarly, when computer sends the output to the user in machine language, it is converted to High-level language so that the users can comprehend it. An interpreter and compiler are used to make these conversions from one level of language to another.

High-Level Language

A High-Level Languages refer to the programming language like C, Java, etc which enable a user or programmer to develop software and applications. These languages are understood by the users but they are not interpreted by the computers. The programmers can work on IT solutions by using High-Level Languages. The HLL is converted to machine language for the computer to comprehend it.

Operating System

Operating System (OS) refers to a software program that ensures the efficient working of the computer. It is an interface where the users can interact with the hardware components. It is the task of OS to manage processes, memory, hardware and software. Some of the types of OS are Linux, Windows, DOS and Android.

Software

Software refers to pre-defined programs that allow users to perform different tasks. It also refers to the collection of instructions that direct the computer to execute different operations. There are different types of software from simple applications to advanced software like Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP).

Random Access Memory (RAM)

Operating System needs data to execute programs and to operate the system. This data and instruction are stored in RAM. The data is stored in RAM for quick access and to keep the programs running.

Device Driver

It is a software program that facilitates an operating system to interact with devices like hard drives, graphic cards, sound cards, etc. The software program consists of a variety of call functions that take care of Input-Output functions.
