Art and Design

Nitin Arun Kulkarni, a distinguished Professor Emeritus at Avantika University's School of Design, brings over 29 years of extensive expertise to the education realm. With profound mastery in Visual- Design Thinking, User Experience Design, Innovation, Design Research, Visual Cultural Studies, Graphics and Brand Identity, and Fashion Illustration. He holds a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) from Dr. Ambedkar University, Aurangabad, specializing in Art and Design Cognition, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Portraiture from the prestigious J.J. School of Art, Mumbai. Currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Contemplative Pedagogy in art education. Having held esteemed teaching positions at J.J. College of Architecture, Rachana Sansad's College of Architecture, and the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) in Mumbai, Kulkarni has imparted his vast knowledge to generations of students. His thought leadership is also reflected in numerous scholarly papers and conference presentations at both national and international platforms. In the creative world, Kulkarni's artworks have been featured in renowned exhibitions across India, including Bharat Bhawan Bhopal and the National Gallery of Modern Art (NGMA), Mumbai. His expertise extends beyond academia, he has served as a consultant for interior decoration and art commissions at Osmosis Studio and various NGOs. As an accomplished writer, he has contributed 42 articles to Maharashtra Times' "Chitrashatak" and more recently penned insightful pieces for Lokmat's "Design Diary" and Loksatta's "Sankalpananchya Sanskruti." His Marathi poetry collection, Pahilya Kavita, was published in 1999, adding a literary facet to his design journey. As the Chairperson of the Master of Design Space at NIFT, Kulkarni pioneered an innovative curriculum resulting in high placement rates. His leadership extended to various prestigious projects, including a diagnostic study and design development for 16 crafts of Madhya Pradesh, a project funded with 50 lakhs, and a Management Development Programme for "Future Lifestyles Fashion" valued at 11 lakhs.
