Fashion Exhibition | School of Design

The Fashion Design Department of the School of Design at Avantika University hosted a vibrant and successful Semester-End Fashion Exhibition. The event showcased the innovative designs and creativity of students, presenting vibrant colors, luxurious fabrics, and patterns with contemporary cuts and styles. The exhibition was officially inaugurated by Ms. Garima Nahar, a renowned fashion designer from Ujjain, in the presence of the respectable Vice Chancellor, Dr. Nitin Rane, and Mr. Raghav Pandya, Dean of the School of Design. The fashion exhibition highlighted all those pieces that forms an essential part of our wardrobes. Some of the best art forms were evident through the intricate art of Indigo dyeing, a unique dye extracted from the harvested leaves of the Indigofera plant, that continues to enthrall fashion enthusiasts, even after 5000 years of its discovery. Apart from Indigo, the exhibition explored the essence of the rich cultural history of the Punjab. All fashion design faculty and students were present at the event, dressed in traditional Punjabi clothing. The exhibition featured a diverse array of styles, from sustainable to classic collections, reflecting the students' versatility and skill. The event also included interactive sessions, adding festive spirit to the atmosphere.

Reading and Analysing Case Laws | Workshop | School of Law and Public Policy

The School of Law and Public Policy at Avantika University recently organized a highly engaging and informative workshop on reading and analyzing case laws, to help students construct skills of persuasive arguments, respond to the opposing counsel, and confront legal hearings with confidence. The workshop was led by Ms. Narayani Sepaha, a legal maestro, who taught the essential skills of effectively interpreting case laws, a critical competency for aspiring legal professionals. During the workshop, Ms. Sepaha elaborated on the various components of case law and their importance in legal reasoning. She guided participants in identifying key arguments and analyzing the underlying legal principles, enhancing their analytical abilities. Students were given a hypothetical case law, where they were asked to analyze and draw conclusions. Since, lawyers have the power to defend the innocent, and ensure a fair resolution of disputes, the invaluable workshop was instrumental in providing students with practical insights into legal analysis, preparing them for their future careers in law.

Gondiya Village | Legal Aid Camp | School of Law and Public Policy

The School of Law and Public Policy at Avantika University organized a Legal Aid Camp to promote cleanliness in Gondiya Village, in collaboration with the District Legal Services Authority of Ujjain. Since the knowledge of how to prevent illness and maintain hygiene is not widely known in rural areas, the event featured captivating Nukkad Natak (street play) performed by students at the local government school, highlighting the importance of cleanliness, government protection schemes, and the health risks associated with waste in their vicinity. Through such interactive activities, children learn valuable hygiene and sanitation knowledge at a young age, as community hygiene is foundational to social progress. The respected Dean of the School of Law and Public Policy, Dr. Priya Sepaha addressed the attendees, emphasizing the need for sustainable practices and community responsibility.

Sanchi Milk Plant Indore | Educational Visit | School of Management

The School of Management at Avantika University recently organized an incredible educational visit to the Sanchi Milk Plant in Indore for its BBA students. The visit, expertly coordinated by Prof. Amber Tiwari, Dr. Ankur Kumar Rastogi, and Prof. Shilpi Upadhyay, offered students a unique opportunity to gain firsthand insights into the operational processes and supply chain management of one of India's premier dairy brands. During the visit, students observed the intricate stages of milk processing and distribution, which served as a practical application of their academic studies. They were able to engage with industry professionals, enhancing their understanding of the complexities involved in dairy production and the significance of cooperative societies like Sanchi in supporting local farmers. This experience aligns with Avantika University's mission to integrate academic knowledge with real-world exposure, providing students the necessary skills and insights helpful to grow in the business landscape.

Role of design thinking in IMC | Online Session | School of Management

The School of Management at Avantika University organized an interactive and informative online session on "Role of design thinking in IMC and how it will impact consumer behaviour," as "design thinking" gained popularity after the idea expanded to business and management, rather than being solely focused on design. The session for the BBA and MBA students was led by Ms. Madhu Chanda Bose, Assistant Vice President, Social Media Marketing and Brand Manager of Explurger, that encouraged students to discover and comprehend real life problems, helping them solve and go above and beyond consumers expectations. The session formed a part of the Marketing Specialization course led by Ms.Shilpi Upadhyay.

Dahi Handi | Krishna Janmashtami Celebration

On the joyous occasion of Krishna Janmashtami, Avantika University hosted a pleasant and a vibrant Dahi Handi Celebration, filling the campus with fervor and excitement. The festivities commenced with a reverent and heartfelt worship of Lord Krishna, setting a spiritual and auspicious tone for the events to come. This was followed by the lively beats of traditional music, creating an atmosphere of joy. Special arrangements were made, with separate handis set up for boys, girls, and staff members, ensuring that everyone could join in the fun. Students eagerly participated, forming enthusiastic groups to take on the challenge of breaking the handis. Laughter and cheers filled the air as different teams of boys and girls successfully broke their handis, each victorious group being rewarded with prizes. It was a day of joy, celebration, and camaraderie, with everyone coming together to honor the spirit of Krishna Janmashtami.

The School of Law and Public Policy at Avantika University in an attempt to prepare students for the pressures and demands of actual legal practice, hosted a successful Intra Mock Trial Competition for the Second-year law students. Since mock trials are an indispensable part of a lawyer's all-around training, such efforts help create more competent and confident future lawyers. The students showcased their legal skills in a simulated compelling case of land dispute. The regular mock trial sessions conducted at Avantika, help familiarize students with everyday courtroom procedures, the roles of various legal professionals, and the dynamics of presenting evidence and examining witnesses, boosting their confidence in public speaking and legal reasoning.

The School of Law and Public Policy at Avantika University organized a Professional Skill Development Activity (PSDA) featuring a guest lecture by Dr. Ashit Srivastava, a distinguished faculty at Dharmashastra National Law University, Jabalpur. The theme was "Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019 and Issues of NRC," the policy, that addresses the plight of marginalized communities, offering refuge to religious minorities such as Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, Parsis, and Christians from specified nations in the Indian territory. Participants engaged in an activity that required them to explore various constitutional and legal provisions related to citizenship and its impact on the social and legal fabric of India. The students analyzed the necessity for amendments in citizenship laws, demonstrating the session's contemporary relevance and significance. During the session, the students presented their findings and engaged in constructive dialogue with the guest speaker. This exercise showcased their ability to think critically, conduct thorough research, and articulate complex ideas clearly.

The School of Law and Public Policy at Avantika University recently hosted an innovative and engaging activity titled "Utility Theory: Application A Pulse Candy Consumption Case Study." This creative exercise was designed to deepen students' understanding of the Theory of Utility, which explores how individuals make choices based on the satisfaction they derive from consuming various goods and services. Using Pulse candies as a practical and relatable tool, the session provided a hands-on learning experience that brought the principles of utility to life. During the activity, students were given Pulse candies and encouraged to consume them while reflecting on their preferences and the levels of satisfaction experienced with each additional candy. This exercise enabled participants to observe the principle of diminishing marginal utility. The activity created a lively and interactive learning environment. Through this approach, enhanced their understanding of economic concepts, gaining valuable insights into consumer behavior and decision-making processes.

Dr. Diana Linda | Indian Traditional Embroidery | Workshop

The Fashion Design Department of the School of Design at Avantika University conducted an enriching workshop on Indian Traditional Embroidery. The informative workshop was led by the very experienced Dr. Diana Linda, an esteemed Italian freelance Fashion Designer boasting an illustrious career of over 25 years. During these years she gained a deeper understanding of the trending fashion trends, developing expertise on slow fashion, upcycled fashion, and gender-fluid fashion. Her commendable knowledge coupled with focus on every individual, contributed significantly towards making an enlightening learning experience. The session provided an in-depth overview of the myriad of Indian traditional embroideries. Since, India is home to a stunning array of artistic creations, the workshop highlighted the origins, techniques, raw materials, colors, motifs, and layouts of the embroideries, signifying each technique is as diverse as the different cultures of Indian history. The workshop was thus a unique opportunity to learn from the seasoned professional, who provided a spectacle to the traditional Indian embroidery and fabric manipulation techniques, helping students gain beneficial insights into what makes each style beautifully unique.

The Fashion Design Department of the School of Design at Avantika University organized a visit to an Exhibition of the Indian traditional handicrafts and textiles in Indore. Students got the opportunity to experience the exquisite craftsmanship at its best. The students were left mesmerized witnessing the vibrant world of India's rich textile & handicraft heritage. The exhibits set the students on a journey to enlightenment, where they learnt different concepts of handloom, directly from the artisans. They got to know about the cultural significance and historical context behind each craft. They saw the way traditional textiles evolution through centuries. The visit sparked ideas on how to creatively integrate traditional elements into contemporary fashion design in a sustainable way. Day 4 | Aarambh 2024 | Student Orientation Program

Day 4 of Aarambh 2024, the Student Orientation Program was flagged off with joyful energy, with Mr. Asif Ali Ebrahim, being the Special Guest of the day. Mr. Asif Ebrahim talked about the unique ways of learning and helped understand the smarter ways to excel through exciting interactive activities. Along with embracing the all new journey of Academics, he shared his thoughts on the ideal approach to start work at a newly joined organisation, since the students are all set to begin their classes after the conclusion of the Orientation program. He shared insights from his years long career experience, giving surprizing tips on enhancing life skills. The Activity Session titled "Take a leap to understand yourself" commenced with all the newcomers. All the activities revolved around learning through fun. The exciting session filled the environment with exciting and enthusiastic energy. The activities made the newcomers play fun games that taught lessons to learn and apply in life.

Inaugural Day | Aarambh 2024 | Student Orientation Program

The inaugural day of Aarambh 2024, the Student Orientation Program commenced with notable energy and enthusiasm. The event was graced by esteemed guests, Dr. Varun Kapoor, Special Director General of Police, Indore, Madhya Pradesh, Ms. Madhu Menon, Director and National Head of Talent Acquisition at Deloitte India, and Mr. Arun Pratap Singh, Chief People Officer at Decimal Point Analytics, who joined the traditional lamp lighting ceremony, followed by the MIT World Peace Prayer, setting an auspicious beginning to the day. The Honorable Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Nitin Rane, extended a warm welcome to the students, saying the teachings they acquire here would have a profound impact on their whole lives. He shared his mantra for success, which is the importance of avoiding criticism, comparison, and complaint. He encouraged students to compare themselves to their past selves, gaining an understanding of their personal growth and improvement over time. The Chief Guest, Dr. Varun Kapoor, Special Director General of Police, Indore, Madhya Pradesh, delivered an inspiring talk, urging the students to prepare for the challenges ahead. Drawing from his own experiences and training, he said everyone faces criticism, but it is up to the individual to emerge stronger from such adversity. The Chief Guest stressed the significance of maintaining a positive attitude, showing respect, and being honest in all aspects of life. Further sharing his expertise in Cybersecurity. Following the Chief Guest's address, the Guest of Honors, Ms. Madhu Menon, Director and National Head of Talent Acquisition at Deloitte India, and Mr. Arun Pratap Singh, Chief People Officer at Decimal Point Analytics, delivered individual expert talks. They began, by engaging the students in energizing activities. They discussed the transformation a student experiences from campus to corporate, stressing the significance of reading, to keep themselves aware of the market trends. They encouraged students to be more curious, dig deeper into the root, raise their hands to seek more knowledge, and celebrate small victories. To better explain their point, they presented movies showcasing the power of unity and teamwork in achieving better outcomes. The Guest of Honors acknowledged that there will be challenges and failures along the way, but the students will emerge stronger and more resilient every time.

Day 2 | Aarambh 2024 | Student Orientation Program

Day 2 of Aarambh began with the 78th Independence Day Celebration to commemorate the valiant sacrifices made by brave souls each day to protect this country. The celebration was graced by Retd. Col. Ashish Mangrulkar, the Chief Guest for the day, with Alumni Omkesh Patle and Saurabh Bhatt as Guests of Honor. The ceremony began with the hoisting of the National Flag by the Special Guests and Hon'ble Vice Chancellor, Dr. Nitin Rane, followed by an inspiring monologue by the Chief Guest. Everyone's chest swelled with pride watching the flag unfurl, glorifying the efforts that brought India and its people to where it stands today, basking in the glory of its rich culture and history. After the Celebration, in order to prepare students to withstand future obstacles with a united spirit, students proceeded to Safari Indore, as part of an Excursion tour. A day full of fun activities for them to better communicate and bond with friends. Zorbing, Sky hiking, wall climbing, commando net, Burma bridge, and a plethora of other adventurous activities promoted a sense of camaraderie, as they faced challenges and conquered fears side by side. The experience truly achieved the aim of enhancing the team spirit by cultivating trust and collaboration, reinforcing the idea that teamwork truly makes the dream work.

Day 3 | Aarambh 2024 | Student Orientation Program

Day 3 of Aarambh started with the introductory sessions led by the different departments of Avantika University. The back to back session aimed at providing students the insights and knowledge about the different departments created to facilitate their educational journey. Dr. Priya Rao, Dean of External Relations, Mr. Rushikesh Pawar, Head Technology, Mr. Sarvesh Bhagat, Career Services and other deans introduced their respective departments. After the departmental introductions, the event moved towards the Expert Session of Ms. Himani Bhasin, Director (L&D- Asia Pacific), JLL. A highly engaging interactive session captivated each student's attention, helping students grab the most out of it. The session started with some enthralling activities. Ms. Bhasin motivated students to stop procrastinating, and to begin with what they fear the most. She pointed that both the set of words, Success and Failure, Positivity and Negativity are made up of the same number of alphabets, hence failure should never become an obstacle in one's effort to achieve what they desire for. It is upto us, to select what is right for us. She talked about the "Burnt toast theory", which is centred around the idea, that each small, everyday inconvenience we experience happens for a bigger reason. She urged the students who just began their college life, to start embracing the positive side of life's little inconveniences. As per her, the universe saves us from something far more detrimental, or pushes us in a whole new direction which we don't realise we needed to go. She helped students explore the 5 utmost required skills, which are also the the secret behind every flourishing successful individual. Good communication, proper body language, conflict resolution, and empathy for others is the name of the game. With these qualities, one is all set to endure every hurdle. After this interactive session, school wise orientation for the students to familiarize with the faculties of the department were conducted. To provide the much needed stress reliever, the day's events were finally concluded with two back to back stand up comedies by the famous Dhruv Khatri and Pranav Sharma. They made humor reflect on everyday situations, personal experiences, and societal quirks. Their ability to turn ordinary moments into something laughable provided students a quick escape from the daily humdrums.

The School of Management at Avantika University organised an exciting Industrial Visit to Phoenix Citadel Mall, Indore for the MBA Semester-III (Marketing) students. The educational excursion, guided by Course Lead Dr. Ankur Kumar Rastogi, SOM, formed an integral part of their "Retail Management" course, aiming for students to better connect classroom theories with real-world retail industry practices, as theoretical sessions are not enough to get real world experiences. Since, the course curriculum focuses on "Learn by Doing" aspect of studies, the visit was hence strategically developed for students to immerse themselves in the practical aspects of retail management. The visit essentially inculcated the learnings of inner working of top luxury retail brands. Students got the opportunity to learn cutting-edge trends, sales strategies, and addressed various industry challenges. These interactions offered invaluable insights into the operations and marketing strategies of these leading brands. Students learned about the daily operations and management of top retail brands, the latest trends and technological advancements in the retail sector. They also got a clear understanding of the effective strategies for enhancing customer engagement thus boosting sales.

10th National Handlooms Day Celebration | The School of Design

Avantika University witnessed the joyous celebration of the 10th National Handlooms Day, which honored the rich heritage and significance of Indian handlooms. The event began with an inspiring address by the esteemed Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Nitin Rane who spoke about the cultural and economic importance of the traditional Indian handlooms. He highlighted how handloom weaving represents India's diverse traditions and the extraordinary skill of its artisans. His words emphasized the need to preserve and promote the invaluable heritage. Following the Vice-Chancellor's speech, a series of captivating videos were presented, showcasing the various handlooms from different regions of India. These videos took the audience on a visual journey through the heart of India's textile industry, illustrating the immense hard work, dedication, and intricate processes involved in creating each piece of handloom fabric. The highlights of the event were the Handloom Exhibition displaying a variety of handloom products, including sarees and fabrics, Best Dressed Handloom Ensemble Competition. The competition had a panel of expert jury members an Italian freelance Fashion designer Dr. Diana Linda and Dr. Hemant Kaushik, who shared their insights on the challenges and opportunities facing handloom weavers in the modern world. It was a poignant reminder of the artistry and perseverance that define the handloom sector. The highlight of the celebration was a stunning ramp walk that truly captured the essence of handmade Indian fashion. Students gracefully draped in exquisite handloom garments showcased the beauty and versatility of traditional Indian textiles. The colors, intricate patterns, and elegant designs mesmerized the audience, offering a glimpse into the rich culture of India. The School of Engineering at Avantika University conducted an informative yet innovative workshop on Blockchain Integration for the B.Tech 3rd year batch. A technology that has emerged as a transformative force for industries, eyeing development in the technological field. The Workshop provided a deep insight into the highly interesting theme of "Integrating Blockchain Technology with Network and Cloud Computing." As part of their Computer Networks course, the workshop essentially delivered the knowledge of its benefits and advantages, serving as the full guide to its technicalities. Led by Mr. Pranay Singh Chouhan, a distinguished Cyber Security Consultant, Forensic Auditor, and Founder, the workshop successfully provided first-hand experiences on how blockchain transformed Cloud Computing. The School of Design at Avantika University organized a Fashion Workshop in trend with the demands of the exclusive fashion world. Led by the renowned fashion designer and academician Ms. Neeta Shah, she brought a staggering experience of 25 years to the table. Under the guidance of the hand embroidery erudite, the hands-on learning session encouraged students to concentrate and explore the intricate art of surface designing with hand embroidery. In order to attract more customers, the apparel designers adapt to surface ornamentation that adds great value to the piece of clothing. Adorning and utilizing different techniques, ultimately creating a uniquely embellished fabric. Outline Stitches, Border & Marking Stitches, Filling stitches, and Three-dimensional stitches were some of the other in demand techniques that the students learned during the session.

The School of Design at Avantika University, organized a Course Exhibition highlighting "Introduction to Design" which specifically focused on the essence of "What Design is", put forward by the First year students of the M.Des course, the Exhibition minutely displayed the details of the day's theme. The different creative artworks consisted of uniquely carved designs, that distinctly expressed what Design is all about. The projects made by the students covered the elements of Design, inspired by varying usage of lines, shapes, forms, texture, etc. The elements were combined together to convey the different principles, laws, and methodologies, that emerge from Human-centric psychology, studies & statistics and, cognition.

Virtual Lab Nodal Center | Inaugural Ceremony | School of Engineering

The School of Engineering at Avantika University inaugurated the state-of-the-art Virtual Lab Nodal Centre, which is of utmost importance for technological innovation and practical learning. The event was graced by three eminent experts from IIT Delhi: Senior Executive Engineer Chirag Dey, Executive Instructor Shivam Yadav and Field Engineer Ubaid Mushtaq Nazar. The program was started by Dr. Surendra N. Rahmatkar, Deputy Pro Vice-Chancellor and Dean of the School of Engineering and the inaugural address. Dr. Rahmatkar's thoughtful words kicked off the event on a positive note and emphasized the transformative potential of the Virtual Lab. He elaborated on how this innovative platform can easily bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application, providing students with a robust, interactive learning environment. After the welcome address, Vice Chancellor Dr. Nitin Rane highlighted the importance of the Virtual Lab. The establishment of Virtual Lab Nodal Center at Avantika University is an important step in the integration of advanced educational tools, which will ensure that students and teachers are fully equipped to face the challenges of the future. Dr. Ashish Bansal, Dean of Research and Consultancy, also addressed the attendees and discussed the strategic importance of integration of advanced technological resources into the academic curriculum. He stressed the role of Virtual Lab in promoting research and enhancing consultancy capabilities. A two-day workshop will also be organized for the students of Avantika University by experts from IIT Delhi. In his address, Chirag Dey detailed the importance of the Virtual Lab and presented an overview of the workshop agenda, which will highlight hands-on training sessions to maximize the benefits of the Lab.

The School of Design at Avantika University recently organized an Industrial Visit to the Tisva Lighting Design Studio and Central Museum for Industrial design students in Indore. The visit was designed to provide students with an informative experience, consisting of historical learnings and contemporary artistic exposure. The visit commenced with a trip to the Central Museum of Indore, where the students were captivated by the pre-historic artifacts, that offered a glimpse into the lives and tools of earlier times. Following the museum visit, the students proceeded to the Tisva Lighting Design Studio, a modern setting showcasing artistic lighting designs. Here, they were introduced to the creative activities that go behind designing decorative lights, from conceptualization to the final product. The students had the opportunity to observe artists at work, meticulously crafting intricate light fixtures.
