Monday 19th of September 2022

The students celebrated Onam at the University campus with traditional fervor. The purpose of the celebration was to bring a taste of Kerala to the campus. The students were dressed in traditional attire, the girls resplendent in golden-white Kasavu sarees while the boys were dressed in kasavu mundu.

The celebrations started with the students making the Pookalam. It was followed by Chenda Melam (traditional orchestra) where the students dressed as Maveli were the center of attraction. The celebrations included performances of traditional ‘Pulikali’ and ‘Thiruvathira’ dance, which was performed by the students.

In the afternoon the students organized cultural programs and conducted games for the staff and the students which were followed by ‘Kerala Sadhya’ – the traditional Onam lunch. The traditional lunch was prepared by expert Chefs who traveled all the way from Kerala. There was also a Flashmob after the games with staff and the students.

The evening started with a few more games like the lemon spoon race, and a sack race near the faculty lawn. The games were followed by Dinner and a fun-filled DJ for the students.

The University embraces different cultures with paramount importance is what ignites the glory of Avantika University. Additionally, celebrating all such festivals is a much-awaited reason to gather together, celebrate, and share prosperity and well-being with gratitude and joy.
