Technical Education and Upskilling

The world around us has transformed largely. What was applicable a decade ago, doesn’t even exist today. Organizations have recouped their resources and mainly workforce, who drive growth and innovate ways of enhancing the business and strategic approach. On the education front, the COVID-19 pandemic has surfaced the gaps in our education system. Not only the education system, even the job market has been uncertain over the past two years.

Even before the current pandemic, the emerging technologies obstructed the nature of jobs and the skillset required to do them. The pandemic is the primary reason that can be accounted as it has disrupted the existing work culture across all levels of the industry. A recent study estimates that digitally skilled personnel represent only 10 - 12 per cent of India’s manpower, and the number of workers requiring digital skills is likely to shoot up nine-fold in the next 5 years. They need to keep pace with automation, changing skill needs across industries and increase competency to combat challenges. An individual is expected to upskill every 3-5 years to align with the changing demands of the market.
