Autonomous Devices - The Trending Technology

Have you ever felt a chill run down your spine when you think about the future? With every object having its brain, will the master and servant swap places?

But brainy gadgets are not just something to be wary of. “It’s not just about getting the data from those objects, it’s also about commanding and interacting with them,” says Akash Sureka, the CEO at Tavisca, A cxLoyalty company. He is a serial entrepreneur with a successful exit to a public company. He comes with a strong background with more than 20 years of varied technology products and business leadership experience in global technology companies.

There is a global movement happening -- ?that of the Cloud, Saas and IoT and all of us are inching towards it. The beautiful part about Saas is that even if you have 10 users, you can start monetizing it. It is a conservative and massive market spread across space and domains.

“AI and Quantum Computing is the next wave of the internet,” says Akash. “Everything is AI-driven right now. Sometimes it is superficial, sometimes actual.”

Several tech giants use quantum computing?—? IBM, Microsoft, Google among others. It’s something dramatically accelerating and worth digging deeper, but if the word physics and maths made you momentarily cringe, it might not be your cup of tea. This is also a place which is creating jobs for many Industrial Designers.

Long and lazy queues, while waiting to place your order have always been like watching paint dry. But if you could ditch the lousiness and go up to a self-ordering kiosk, it would be something to look forward to. And that is where technology has proved fruitful for us. It has its pros, along with those cons. Robotics Process Automation(RPA) is another such field which stretches robotics across hardware to software platforms.

With the pandemic elbowing us into our homes, virtually travelling to places is something long-awaited. Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) technologies have a part to play here. The next set of devices coming from large manufactures will be that of mixed reality. Don’t be surprised if your meetings would become equipped with AR screens and holographic videos just like the ones in Captain America.

“Autonomous is a technology trend that will expand,” says Akash. “IoT, Cloud, AI, Quantum Computing?—?all of these combined will give a massive boost to autonomous objects and softwares.”

Innovations like the hyperloop are leading to intelligent transportation and the ones like electric vehicles are just one step forward into an energy-efficient world. Travelling faster has always been a matter of innovation since the time cars replaced horses. Healthcare and finance are also areas where a tech market is evolving. There’s a sense of trust-building between the tech and the users as more and more people are getting accustomed to net banking and other digital methods.

If you hate looking at cluttered inboxes, there’s some good news ahead. With most of the messaging shifting to other platforms, e-mails might go obsolete in the next couple of years. But this again is a matter of debate. With technologies being developed to read your brain, there might as well be a time when AR may answer empathy challenges faced by human beings. Imagine a device asking you to be more empathetic!

Whether the future will be a set of engulfing displays with privacy concerns or a more energy-efficient innovative space is best left unsaid. But what can be said is that there’s a huge tech wave making its way, ready to envelop all existing domains.
